Mentoplasty and Malasplasty:

The chin and cheekbones are prominent bony structures that mark distinctive features of the face. The projection of these structures can be modified. The increase will be made by solid silicone implants and other materials. In chin surgery, placement can be done through an incision inside the mouth or under the chin externalize. The malar implant can be introduced by a lid, or endooral incision. The implants are immobilized with adhesive fabric or postoperative pressure dressing.

These surgeries can be performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty, managing to improve the entire face profile in general.

It is called mentoplasty surgery to changes in the shape, size or position of the chin.
When a patient has a chin underdeveloped called hipomentonismo or retrognathism and when it is too prominent, hipermentonismo or undershot. The dimensions are measured both vertically and horizontally, and its study we consider the rest of the jaw, tooth position, upper jaw and forehead.
In the case of hipomentonismo or receding chin it is common to find a lower lip fallen by the lack of bone development. In these cases we resort to the implantation of a prosthesis of solid silicone or Gore-tex whose size and shape are adapted to the needs of each patient. The placement is done through a small incision in the mucosa, or skin under her chin, under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis. It may cause transient alterations of sensitivity and mobility lip.
Malarplasty
Cosmetic surgery cheekbone or Malarplasty is increased cheekbones by introducing synthetic material (Gore-tex, etc …) through an incision in the inner mouth, it is performed or when blepharoplasty,by the same route palpebral.
It can also be modified cheekbone position by elevating the malar fat (lifting endoscopic) or osteotomies.
The prosthesis is usually placed under local or local anesthesia with sedation and on an outpatient basis. Edema usually causes a sharp decreases after 8 days and remits in about three weeks. There are also frequent fat grafts for the same purpose.
Another method to accentuate the cheekbones involves removing the buccal fat or Bichat ball, which causes a decrease in the cheek and, therefore, an accentuation of the cheekbone.
